Job Description
As the Product Manager for Core Banking, you will be responsible for managing the strategy, product development process and go-to-market plans for the overall core banking solution. You will lead the core development process from defining business requirements to working with the development team during the software creation process. You will work closely with sales and operations to implement the go-to-market plan for new features, functions and product solutions. This role requires a strategic thinker with an understanding of core banking and payment technologies and the overall banking and payments landscape; a passion for technology; and the ability to drive product management and development from conception to market success on a global scale with a linear focus on creating delighted customers and revenue growth.
This candidate will require a mix of business skills and technical understanding to develop product strategy, understand market/client needs, and lead teams charged with developing and commercializing products in the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute the product development roadmap for the core banking product to ensure it remains competitive.
- Assist with development of core banking vision and strategy. Execute on the strategy for core banking by fostering the development process and introduction of new features and functions.
- Develop key requirements for all new feature and functions within the core banking solution.
- Support development teams throughout the development process (Solutions, Engineering, QA, Design).
- Lead the end-to-end Business Requirements Document (BRD) process and oversee the successful delivery of new features into production environments.
- Develop and implement go-to-market strategies to ensure effective product launches and widespread adoption
- Build and sustain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, strategic partners, industry standards bodies, and regulatory entities.
- Collaborate with product leadership to shape and execute the global strategy and roadmap for core banking, money movement, and debit card solutions, aligning with broader company objectives.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to drive continuous innovation and product evolution.
- Conduct ongoing competitive analysis to inform product strategy, positioning, and roadmap development
- Perform in-depth market research to identify emerging opportunities and risks, ensuring data-driven product decisions.
We are looking for
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Business degree or quantitative/technical field preferred: business admin, computer science, engineering, economics, math, science.
- Experience: 5-7 years in relevant core banking, digital banking and/or payments software industry AND 2+ working for a financial institution.
Skills
- Demonstrates commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences and a strong passion for customer-centric innovation.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience within a financial institution, ideally in digital banking, product development, or product management roles.
- In-depth knowledge and practical exposure to core banking systems and major payment networks, including NACHA, TCH, FED, Visa, Mastercard, Interac, and SWIFT.
- Strong understanding of the banking and payments ecosystem, including technologies supporting core banking, digital channels, and related software platforms.
- Proven experience with SaaS and native cloud-based product solutions, including awareness of modern deployment models and market expectations.
- Well-versed in the competitive landscape of the core banking industry, with the ability to leverage insights to inform product strategy and differentiation.
- Excels at Cross Functional Manager. Ability to successfully work with the development organization, sales and customer facing teams using a cross functional process.
